Bring Furniture Home...Virtually
Is it time to go furniture shopping? It’s a fun experience, but it can also be time-consuming and labor intensive. That’s because it takes time to browse stores, decide on designs, and count the costs. And even when you think you’ve found the perfect piece for your home or business, you may discover it doesn’t fit in with the design scheme or the space specifications. That means you must ship it back to the store. And you don’t want to do that!
Using Augmented Reality (AR), we developed an app for iOS and Android platforms that allows customers to try before they buy. Consumers simply select a furniture product and use their mobile phones or tablets to place it virtually in any room.
In today’s world, where a business needs to stand apart from competitors, the FurniturePlace app provides a high-tech way to do it.
In a world of instant gratification, most people don’t want to wait for products to be delivered. Some consumers don’t have the time or interest in physically browsing a store. Why do it when online shopping is so much easier? The FurniturePlace app enhances the customer’s experience by allowing them to bring products into any space using a WiFi-connected phone or other mobile device that has a camera. The AR app displays artificial objects in the real world by layering images of furniture products onto the device’s display screen.
All a potential customer needs to do is download the app and browse for products. After finding what they want, they use their phone or tablet’s camera to blend the real world with the computer-generated furniture piece.
The FurniturePlace we created is an effective and impressive tool for any company to market their brand – whether it’s furniture, cars, jewelry, or other products. But most importantly, it also drives sales by turning app users into loyal customers.
The app we developed works like the IKEA place app. In fact, we used the same technology to achieve fantastic results. When the mobile camera is on, the app scans the room to get its bearings – so to speak. Unlike some AR apps that use marker-based technology, ours does not.
Instead, the PixelTeh programmers developed a marker-less tracking app that does not rely on QR markers or beacons. This ensures reliable placement of objects and realistic image layering. The app finds several “real life” anchor points to determine the location and creates a virtual model that seamlessly blends with the surroundings.
Don’t frustrate your customers. When they download an app, they expect it to work. At the same time, they don’t want to feel limited. With this app, they won’t. A consumer can insert as many furniture and home décor pieces as they want . . . and wherever they want them. This allows for flexibility and ultimate customization.
Take your family and friends shopping with you. It’s easy, and they don’t have to leave their homes. Get opinions from them by sharing your furniture images. It’s simple to take a screenshot of the room with your virtual furniture and then send it to someone else. We integrated the app to provide seamless messaging through texts, emails, and social media.
It’s so easy to check out when you’ve found the right furniture piece. A shopping cart is automatically generated based on items added to the virtual room. So, users do not have to go through complicated procedures to make a purchase. Everything is available in front of them.
As a dependable augmented reality company, PixelTeh knows how to make dreams come to life! Facing challenges and coming up with technological solutions is our specialty. Our programmers know how to modify and improve code to ensure a customized product that works flawlessly.
For instance, for an Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality app, the camera’s sensor readings must be accurate, or a user will run into all sorts of problems placing the virtual furniture. Fortunately, we have a large team of developers on staff who are experts in the field. Some of the challenges we faced and resolved included:
In order to make an AR app project come to life – and ensure it is accurate – you need developers with many years of experience in the field. This field of programming is not for novices. As they say, “Practice makes perfect.” And we’ve had a lot of practice throughout the years. Our programmers are not only experts in their trades, but they are passionate about what they do. The technologies and programming languages we used to make the project a success were:
